For delicate food items which might be crushed by the vacuum packing process (such as potato chips) you can stop the Dometic Vacuum sealer when the air is removed but the chips are not crushed. This also works for soups and stews.

Vacuum packing (commonly known as Cryovac) is a packaging technique that removes air and limits oxygen from the container to prolong the shelf life of foods and, for flexible packages, reduce the size of the product. This helps prohibit bacterial and fungal growth, while reducing evaporation of volatile components. It is also commonly used to store dry foods for a long duration, such as cereals, nuts, cured meats, cheese, smoked fish, coffee, and chips. For short-term storage, vacuum packing can also be used on fresh foods like vegetables, meats, and liquids to further discourage bacterial growth. Freezer burn can occur when food is frozen without protection, resulting in a dried, leathery texture and compromising flavors and textures.
